It’s official, we have now reached a new low in pointless social media add-on usage.
Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel has announced that the Snapchat animated hot dog has been watched over 1.5 billion times.
If you haven’t heard of the hot dog, you may have been living under a rock. The hot dog is an animated character that gyrates and dances on your screen.
The hot dog also serves as a nice distraction from Snapchat’s rather disappointing Q2 results.
So what does this mean for digital marketers? Absolutely nothing! Seriously, not a single thing! This is the most pointless thing I have covered on All The Geek and I feel dumber for having written it hahahaaaa.
Okay, in all seriousness, it does point to the behavioral patterns of Snapchat users. It seems people are happy with a pointless animated hot dog if it helps them to escape the stresses of a turbulent time that we live in. Mybe I am wrong, maybe the hotdog is in fact exactly what the world needs right now. Or maybe I just need some sleep.
