As of today, most WhatsApp users will see a new feature. WhatsApp has borrowed heavily from its parent company Facebook and released a feature called Live Location.

Live Location lets you share your location with your contact list. You can even set a timer for how long you want your location to be broadcast.

Essentially, if you open a single or group chat, select the “Location” option under ‘attach’ then tap the share location button.

So why is this relevant to digital marketing?  This is a great way to intersect digital and IRL (in real life) techniques. The ability for a brand using WhatsApp to broadcast an event or giveaway location to its followers has the potential to be quite interesting.

I am keen to hear how anyone plans to leverage this feature. How would it apply to any future campaigns? Is anyone actually using WhatsApp for campaigns?
