For anyone that runs a content heavy website, this could be some of the best news you have heard all week.

Google has just released a native Scroll Depth Trigger to Tag Manager. Now you no longer need to rely on third-party plugins.

The native trigger includes options to track both horizontal and vertical scrolling in either percentage or pixel depth. You can also select either all or select pages of a website.

It is really simple to enable the feature, go to the “Trigger Configuration” menu within Google Tag Manager and select “Scroll Depth.” You can then configure “Scroll Depth Threshold,” “Scroll Depth Units” and “Scroll Direction” tracking parameters.

For more detail on how to use the trigger, I highly recommend you read Simo Ahava’s blog.
