This news is kind of a big deal. Any digital marketer that has been around for more than a year, will no doubt come across issues with page speed when using WordPress.
This becomes an even bigger problem when Google announces they are focusing on page speed as an important factor in how we rank in organic search.
Well, WordPress users of the world rejoice. The days of fearing a negative search impact just for using WordPress are over.
Google has formally announced they are working with WordPress to address the issues.
According to the Developer Advocate Alberto Medina at the Content Ecosystems Team over at Google:
‘Our WordPress vision covers a lot of exciting work across the full breadth of the WordPress ecosystem: collaborating on WP core, developing themes, plugins, and WP-tailored tools and infrastructure, and engaging with the broader WordPress community of publishers.’
There is no word on when this version of WordPress will be released, however, WordPress has a particularly aggressive release cycle, so I am not imagining it is too far away.
This is a very big deal for digi marketers that use WordPress, and there are a lot of us out there. WordPress make up a third of all websites on the internet and is by far the biggest CMS.
This news makes me very happy.
