In a scene straight out of Oprah (you get a verification…you get a verification….everybody gets a verification), Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey mentioned in a live stream that Twitter is ultimately wanting to open up Twitter verifications to all.
If you are not already aware, there are a number of issues regarding the current blue tick verification system. Firstly, once you apply, there is no visibility on what happens next. Secondly, it is literally down to human review and approval (meaning it is open to bias).
During the live stream, someone asked if Twitter will be verifying more people. Jack responded with:
“Short answer is going to be yes”
He then went on to explain that the intention of any new verification system is to allow people to verify more identity details and to open the verification up to everyone.
This is a huge change and will make the blue tick a lot more accessible.
