Announced today, Outbrain has reached an exclusive partnership with Telaria to offer video ads on the content discovery platform.
The new video ads will appear above or below the usual content grid that you see on sites with Outbrain ads. From what I understand, the video will be as wide as the grid block.
It is worth noting that site publishers can opt out of having the video ads showing and there is currently no matching with the context of the page content (which is a massive oversight).
The ad formats available are 30-, 90-, and 120-second ads. The ads will play silently, but automatically when the user scrolls down to that part of the page.
This is an interesting move by Outbrain and it is intriguing to see if it pays off.
